The Believer Is Naught But Fruit-Bearing Work

In the name of Allah, and may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon the servant of Allah Most High, His Prophet and Messenger — our master and Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ, his family, and his companions.

To proceed:

In the hadith of Abū Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, the Prophet ﷺ said:

"Indeed, Allah Most High does not look at your bodies or at your forms — He looks at your hearts and at your deeds."

In this noble hadith, the Prophet ﷺ affirms that the Muslim must combine in his life two things, neither of which can do without the other:

The first: The intention he carries in his heart, by which he aims at performing these deeds.

The second: The action that issues from that intention — what he contributes to the fabric of life, the achievements he offers to the humanity in whose midst he lives.

For the believer is naught but fruit-bearing work; the believer is naught but production that emerges; the believer is naught but an instrument for performing the good and accomplishing the righteous. Such is the believer whom the Lord of the worlds — exalted is He — accepted as His servant and vicegerent when He said to the angels: ﴿Indeed, I am making upon the earth a vicegerent﴾. Such is the believer through whom life is set right and the cosmos set right, by whom the earth is cultivated, and through whom humanity finds its happiness.

O Allah, gather in our hearts the intentions that please You, and grant us of action that draws us near You and brings us to Your paradise. And bless, O Allah, our Prophet Muḥammad and his family and companions, and grant them abundant peace.

Peace be upon you.
